The magic of human potential - creating a ripple effect

Would you agree with me that we are a miracle? Our Earth is magical as are animals, plants, food and many of the amazing discoveries that have benefited humanity.

Every single one of us has a uniqueness to express and has different talents and gifts.

If I asked you, what your gifts and talents are, what would you list immediately?

Would you only focus on the "doing" parts and your professional experiences and achieved degrees or equally consider what I call your "beingness"?

Kind, empathic, compassionate, generous, grateful, great chef, wonderful parent, active listener, always ready to give a hug, reflective, supportive, funny with lots of humour, loyal, mindful, observant, reliable, trustworthy, handyman/handywoman,... just to give a few examples.

Is it possible that many people around you see your gifts and talents and you don't?

Do some things come naturally to you and you don't even realise that others admire those?

Have you ever reflected on what you are good at? If you have not, it might be time to write a list. It is not only about your professional skills but also your human attributes.

Look back at your life and situations where you have shown up for others in loving, supportive or encouraging ways.

Maybe even ask family members or friends what they truly love and appreciate about you.

When we express our human potential, talents and gifts we create a ripple effect.

On my way to the bakery on Saturday at 6.30 am I was reminded of that ripple effect.

I contemplated how many people would have had to start baking at 3 am so the rest of us could buy some delicious bread.

When I entered the bakery I enjoyed seeing the spread of various types of bread, buns, rolls, cakes, sandwiches and more.

The sales assistant greeted me with a smile and the owner popped her head out from the kitchen to say good morning.

Over time I had lovely conversations with her about Austria's most famous cake, "Sachertorte", and the best bread in the world.

Thanks to my dog, who was part of my morning stroll, I continued my walk to the small park nearby.

Down the road, the farmers were setting up their stalls for the weekly market, which I would visit later.

I love the interaction with the farmers and getting different produce at different stalls.

As I entered the park I noticed the colourful bushes around the fountain.

I paused next to the beautiful flower beds, took a deep breath and looked around the park.

The church clock struck once, telling me it was a quarter past the hour.

It was magical. I felt so blessed.

When I got home, my daughter was getting ready to go to the library early to study for upcoming exams.

It was her birthday last week and her friends gifted her with a magazine, made on Canva, that was all about her. Over breakfast, she joyfully shared some lovely quotes and pictures from her friends.

Think about all that expressed human potential, which had ripple effects and led to some magical moments on a Saturday morning!

As I headed to the supermarket at 10 am I could not believe how much magic I had already experienced at that stage.

A friendly and cheerful lady wished me a lovely weekend at the checkout.

I could have gotten all my groceries at the supermarket and used the self-checkout. I could have avoided talking to anyone. Besides other shoppers, I might have noticed an employee stacking the shelves.

I felt so much human connection visiting the bakery and the farmers' market and looking at the flowerbeds in the park.

Their work and their "beingness" had a ripple effect on my experience. Equally my "beingness" had a ripple effect on them. Their work was honoured and valued.

What kind of world do we want to live in? Do we want to know where our food comes from or who stacked the shelves?

How much do we value human potential and the ripple effect that simple (inter)actions can have?

None of us will single-handedly change our world's biggest problems.

However, we can support small bakeries and farmers.

We can have a chat with people behind the counter and be grateful for their work.

We can admire the flower beds that gardeners created.

We can pause and appreciate all the magical moments in our lives.

Everything is energy and feeds into the collective energy.

How are you expressing your human potential and causing ripple effects?

A small step can turn out to be a quantum leap...

Coming up next: The magic of support. So, stay tuned...

Have a magical week!
