The magic of slowing down - being present with life

Have you ever wondered if you are rushing through life to get everything done?

Do you feel you are too busy and always on the go? You might even be so used to such patterns without realising that your life is filled with constant action.

Yet something magical happens when we slow down. We become much more present with life.

The world looks very different when we slow down. We tend to become very aware of the present moment when nothing else but that moment seems to exist.

Suddenly all the noise that the world creates ceases to be relevant.

When we rush through life, we lose connection to ourselves and others. We might not realise that we are somehow disconnected until we slow down our lives and become aware of it.

If you reflect on your life, are there times or experiences when you feel you lost that connection?

Imagine a hamster wheel that is continuously turning. It might be good for exercise but it is exhausting to be constantly on it.

Yet, it seems that many of us experience life like a hamster wheel. We exhaust ourselves without being able to be truly fully present for anyone including ourselves.

We rush to work, we rush back home, we make dinner, we put the kids to bed, we watch TV, scroll through social media, go to bed, get up and repeat it all over again.

We can get caught in the same unhealthy thought patterns, living in the past or being anxious about the future.

Of course, there are some variations to it but overall our lives tend to unfold in similar ways.

What would happen if we stopped posting Instagram stories and scrolling through endless feeds of other people's lives?

How would it feel to stop focusing on achieving goals in the quickest possible way?

Do we honour all stages that we experience on our journey throughout life? The good, the bad and the ugly?

Can we say with absolute certainty that we feel a deep connection with who we are instead of who the world wants us to be?

Sometimes life forces us to slow down through different events that might occur, such as accidents, disease, the loss of a loved one or a job and similar. It can be a wake-up call or lead to more distraction and staying busy to avoid dealing with our true feelings.

What would happen if we slowed down and stayed present with what is?

Have you ever wondered if we could slow down the speed of light?

According to some experiments, it is possible to alter the shape of the photon, making it move through a vacuum slower than an unaltered photon.

I am sure that moving through space at light speed must be quite an experience. Maybe we are even capable of doing it in some ways and are not even aware of it.

There is still so much to explore and understand. Slowing down our thoughts and our lives can lead to deeper explorations, new experiences and new levels of consciousness and awareness.

I believe that we have only discovered a fraction of what is truly possible...

Life presents us with many opportunities to learn and grow.

Maybe you feel inspired to explore what it feels like to slow down if you are leading a very busy life.

Who knows what kind of magic might unfold?

Coming up next: The magic of expanding and collapsing. So, stay tuned...
